We’re already in the Third Week of Advent! How is that possible? This week we’re reflecting on God promise of Joy, or as Isaiah 61 puts it - “Spirit of the Lord God is upon me… to grant those who mourn in Zion… the oil of gladness, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit.” There are many other things God promises, and they are not to the rich and wealthy, but to the brokenhearted, and the poor, anyone who puts their hope in God. Let’s explore the grace of God together this week.

The oldest forms of art in the church capture this crucial moment when Jesus’ claims that the promises of God delivered through Isaiah the prophet have been fulfilled in himself.
