Letter to the Ephesians, Pt. 10

This week we will be continuing our series on Ephesians. We will be lookin at Ephesians 4:1-16. An interesting note is that we are halfway through the book of Ephesians and you may see a slight change. The first three chapters of Ephesians reminds the readers of Gods goodness and the reconciliation that has happened between jew and gentile. It shows us our new identity as Christ followers. In the next three chapters we will see a more practical aspect to the Christian walk, we are called to be a part of Gods family and called to live that out and so Paul gives examples and aspects of the Christian walk.

This Sunday the passage has many themes but an overarching one is unity, as the body of Christ we are to be unified just as there is one faith, one baptism and one God. Unity can be hard but Paul gives us some great examples and we will be looing at how to walk in unity this Sunday.

Discussion Questions

  1. What can be the biggest cause of disunity in the Church?

  2. How do you approach someone that you disagree with? What are aspects of your faith that are non negotiable for you?

  3. Paul mentions humility, gentleness, patience and bearing with one another, which one of these do you fine the easiest to live out and the most difficult?

  4. The gifts or titles that is mentioned in verse 11, are they only for leaders of the church or are these gifts/titles for anyone in the church?

  5. Paul mentions this phrase in the NIV “13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Do you believe that is harder to attain in our current culture? is it something to attain or is it beyond our reach until Christ comes back?

  6. How can we do as Paul says and guard against false or cunning teaching as he puts it?
