Friday Five November 26, 2021

Good Morning Church Family,

This Sunday we are looking forward to having Emmanuel Bible College President Neil Cudney with us.  EBC & Bible Colleges across Canada will also be our Prayer Focus for this week.  We appreciate the work that they do and ask the Lord to continue to lead them & bless them.

There will not be any Sunday School after church this week, but will return next Sunday Dec. 5.  We will also be starting up Nursery in December for during our Sunday Services!  Thank you to the group of volunteers who are making this possible.

It’s hard to believe it is almost December! The church has been humming this week with all of the Bethlehem Live preparations and last minute details.  What a beautiful thing to see God’s people working together to present His story of Hope and Redemption to our community.
It is not too late to sign up, there are a few later spots in both evenings.  Bring a friend or neighbour out to walk through the story of Christmas!

If you would like to sign up for a Church Family Christmas Dinner, please do so this week.  We need to let Maribeth know the final count Friday Dec. 3.  Click the Christmas at UTMC graphic below to register.

Pastor Nate is still looking for a few more volunteers to be part of our Live Nativity “Float” in the Christmas Parade Dec. 3.  Please contact the church office or Pastor Nate if you can help out in this way.

If you would like to share a talent and be part of our Christmas Eve Family Service at 6:30pm, please let the office know or sign up on Sunday.

Bookkeeper Needed

Our current bookkeeper has obtained full time employment, and will no longer be able to provide this service to the church after the end of the year.  So we are looking for a new paid part-time bookkeeper.  The suitable candidate should have some computer skills, particularly in Excel and accounting programs.  We use Sage 50 and a third party program for donations.  Training will be provided, as the current bookkeeper is willing to provide direction and ensure a smooth transition over the first two months.  If you are interested in this position please contact the church office or our treasurer, Bruce Michael.

This week we look forward to a very special service on Sunday.  It will include two special elements, the dedication of Stephanie Schultz and the Ordination Ceremony for Pastor Nate.  We invite everyone to come out Sunday and celebrate with us.

A reminder for Sunday mornings, please use the South Facing double doors that go up into the Kids Hallway as an entrance.  This allows for an easier flow of people as well as keeps our sanctuary warmer in the winter without the door being open and closed often.  If stairs are difficult for you, by all means, please use the door beside Sanctuary.

Take a few minutes to check out what’s happening at UTMC over the next several weeks!  For all things Christmas click the image below for all of the Christmas updates (including registering for the Christmas Dinner).

Friday Five – November 12 2021

It has been another busy week at UTMC.  Pastor Brian has been getting acquainted with several parts of UTMC and has had the chance to spend time with the youth the last two Thursday nights!  It has been wonderful to see the welcome he has received from so many.

Christmas Planning is in full swing and we are so excited for Bethlehem Live in just two weeks.
If you are available tomorrow at 8am to meet at the church and help with the (modified) Bethlehem Live build, we would appreciate the help.  To keep everyone up to date with Christmas at UTMC, all of the information for the various events will be on one page on the website.  You can click the graphic below for information about Parade, Dinner and Christmas Eve Services.

As we enter into a busy season for many people, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Pastor Nate or Pastor Brian if you need someone to talk to and pray with. They want to connect with you and are here for you.

This week Pastor Nate will be preaching a Part 2 to his “Out” sermon, you can find the sermon notes for Sunday at https://www.utmc.ca/category/sermon-notes/.  Be sure to check out the Worship Companion he has put together this week.  https://www.utmc.ca/worship-companion-november-14-2021/

What an exciting week it has been at UTMC!  Pastor Brian Smith started as Associate Pastor on Monday morning (to a creatively decorated office by some of our Youth) and has not stopped since. It has been a busy few days for him as he gets to know his way around the church, meetings with Pastor Nate, staff meetings (it’s no longer just two of us!), and dropping in on various ministries happening throughout the week.  He will spend some time with the Board & Deacons this weekend and if you have not met him yet, be sure to say WELCOME on Sunday morning.  Brian’s email is Brian@utmc.ca.

Friday Five October 29, 2021

There are many new updates this week, including a short note from Pastor Brian, Bethlehem Live Poster, November Calendar, Youth Calendar and more.  Take a few moments to get caught up on the happenings of UTMC.

This Sunday Pastor Nate will be preaching from the story of Ruth – “You’re Welcome” Ruth 1:1-18.  Be sure to check out the Worship Companion that will help prepare your heart for Sunday.

Last week was the reminder that there is room for you at church.  Not only do we have room for you, but you’re welcome here.  No matter what you have done, what you have thought or felt in the past or today, there’s a place for you and you’re welcome.

GREETINGS FROM THE SMITH FAMILY

Hello Upper Thames Missionary Church,

Paula, I and the kids are so excited about coming and being a part of the Mitchell and upper Thames community. As I am writing this we are in the middle of packing, I don’t know about you but packing is never fun but it does give us a perspective of what we have and what’s important. With that in mind our excitement is building, with each box that’s packed we are one step closer to being in Mitchell. Below are some important things that I am excited about for ministry and some prayer requests, we look forward to seeing and meeting everyone next Sunday!!

Looking forward to:

Being a part of a great small town like Mitchell

Getting to know people around where we will live and do ministry

Connecting with leaders and supporting all the wonderful ministries I will be a part of.

Connecting with youth, children and their parents.

Music is a huge passion of mine and being involved in music ministry.

Prayer requests:

That moving goes well (that nothing breaks)

For the transition of the kids, especially Ezra who will be 5 in November, he will be coming to a whole new town, house and school.

For a wonderful start to myself being on staff at UTMC.

Brian, Paula, Ezra, Emery, Evangeline

SUNDAY OCT 31 is your LAST day to give to the Shower!

WATCH FOR BETHLEHEM LIVE REGISTRATION STARTING IN NOVEMBER!

Good Morning Church Family,

It has been another busy week at UTMC!  It was so nice to see many of the Ambassadors out yesterday for their time together.  If you are in the 55+ range, and haven’t come out to one of their afternoons together, watch for the dates in November, they would love to have you join them!

Thank you to the volunteers this past week who helped us with a dump run, and for assembling Pastor Brian’s new furniture in his office.  Pastor Brian was in town briefly Sunday afternoon and brought some of his office things to the church.  They are off this week as they prepare to transition to Mitchell – you will find details below on how you can help welcome them to UTMC!

There are also Mission Updates below from the Bragg Family & Jesse Britton (YFC).  We look forward to having Pastor Nate preaching again this Sunday – and please know – there is room for YOU!  Come join us at 9:49am Sunday morning.   Pastor Nate has also put together a wonderful Worship Companion for this week.  Check it out with the link below.

We invite all families to join us for a fun afternoon!  Bring the kids or youth – or all you young at heart!  It will be a wonderful time together.  (This event is weather permitting.)

Friday Five October 15 2021

This Sunday we return to church inside!  If you are wondering about what this “looks like”, please refer to the details down below. This week we have Bruce Michael preaching on Sunday “How to Deal With Fear in Your Life” John 14:27 & Psalm 56:10-11.  The lyrics to the songs will be back online and on the screen in the service, so need to click a link while we are inside.  We will see you at 9:49am Sunday morning.

We have a greeting from Pastor Brian and his family in this Friday Five!  Take a moment to “meet” them.

ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS:
When we are back indoors, we have created a small space in the room off the bathrooms – this will be our “Volunteer Room”.  If you are on A/V, Head Usher, Greeter, Kids Care etc. if you could please check in there first thing on a Sunday morning when you arrive.  This will be where all of our Volunteers/Staff need to do a screening form.  Orders of Service will be there, attendance clip board, name badges etc.  This will be an easy and efficient way to keep everything and everyone organized when we are back inside.

SUNDAY SCHOOL STARTS THIS WEEK:
Sunday School for Adults and Jr/Sr Highschool will be starting Oct. 17 following the service.  At this time we will not have Kids of the King or Nursery available, but the Nursery will be open to use on your own during Sunday school.

Happy Thanksgiving UTMC!  We have so much to be thankful for, including the gift of new life.  We celebrated the arrival of Stephanie Raye Schultz this week.  We give thanks that Alli & Stephanie are both doing well and continue to pray for the Schultz family as Pastor Nate takes this time off.  As you go about your weekend, be sure to set aside some time to pause and spend some time giving thanks to God for all of your blessings.

There are many new announcements this week, including some “Fun Facts” about Pastor Brian. Take 5 minutes to scroll down to get caught up.

If you would like to help Emi Pol with this event, please get in touch with the church office.  She is looking for a few volunteers to help, including helping with the tea & coffee table.  Also, if you have a few bales of hay she could borrow for the event, please let us know.  This is going to a fun afternoon that is open to the youth and families of the church!

Do you have a truck?  We need your help THIS WEEK!  We have been doing a lot of clean up in the church and have a pile of things to go to the dump for recycling.  If you are able to come between Monday-Friday 9-noon, and load up your truck and take it to the dump for us, we would really appreciate it!  Contact the church office if you can help in this way!

Happy Thanksgiving Holiday Religious Website Banner
It’s hard to believe it is October already!  We have enjoyed a wonderful September at UTMC and we are looking forward to all that God has for his in this new month, including a new Schultz Baby!  We are so excited for the new arrival anytime now and pray God’s best for Pastor Nate & Alli as they prepare for their third child.  Pastor Nate will be taking a couple of weeks off once the baby arrives, during this time the office will remain open and our Board and Deacons are available if you need anything at all.  We want the Schultz family to have a meaningful time of rest from work during Pastor Nate’s time off with his family.

This Sunday is looking like rain which means we will be indoors if it rains.  For any questions about what that looks like – see the list of FAQ’s below.  Also below, meet Pastor Brian, October calendar and links to Sunday’s Worship, Worship Companion and Sermon Notes.
