September 24 Friday Five

Welcome to the last September Friday Five!  This week we have been busy making plans for when we return indoors for our Sunday Services.  Precious Seeds & Cadets leadership were here Wednesday night making plans for their return next week, and Wednesday, Pastor Nate hosted a denominational meeting for regional ministers.
We are also busy in the office preparing for Pastor Brian and his family.  Getting his office ready, doing some long overdue tidying and organizing, a real Fall “Spring” cleaning.  In the coming days, Pastor Nate will be sharing some more about Pastor Brian and his family so you can “get to know him” a little bit more before he begins in November.
I would like to make you aware of a need that has come up through our church.  Fred & Deb Kuepfer’s neighbour is having a difficult pregnancy.  She is back and forth weekly to London to be monitored.  The husband is having to take time off work to help with these appointments and with two other little ones at home they are stretched beyond what they can manage.  Deb has been happily helping them as much as possible, but Deb & Ruth Boonstra have come up with a way for our church family to be a practical support to this family.
If you are able to make a casserole type meal for them and bring it into the church office to be put in our freezer, the meals will be taken once a week so that the family doesn’t have to worry about dinner one night a week.  Another way to practically help, if you feel like you could provide a ride to and from London (they live in Monkton), on a Thursday, please get in touch with us at the church office.  The appointments could be anywhere from 1-4 hours in length, so it would need to be someone free for the day.  Thank you for prayerfully considering how you may be able to help this family.
Pastor Nate has put together another wonderful Worship Companion for us – I encourage you to check it out! There are also sermon notes for his last sermon in the “September Survey” series and lyrics for the songs.  Please see the Friday Five email for August Financial update.
Thank you to those who have signed up for Kids Care, Nursery and Ushers.  We still need about 3 more Adults and one or two teens to sign up for our nursery rotation.  Contact the church office to sign up!

This is an event happening in London, if you want more information to attend, you can go to their website:

Welcome to the Friday Five!  Please take a couple of moments to get caught up on the latest happenings at UTMC.
This week we excitedly welcomed back the Ambassador’s and want to thank Marg Jordan & Helen McDonald for all of their dedication to the ministry for so many years.  They celebrated their retirement from the ministry and handed the ministry over to the faithful hands of Denise Bott.
As Pastor Nate shared yesterday by email, we are so excited for our new Associate, Pastor Brian Smith to be joining the staff of UTMC!  We prayerfully prepare for Pastor Brian and his family as they transition to Mitchell in the coming months.
We received a beautiful Thank You card from Emily & Cameron for the wedding gift we collected for.
“Church Family,
We are very thankful for our church family!  Thank you so much for all your love and support!  Thank your the card, gift cards, chocolates and flowers.  We appreciate it!
Love Emily & Cameron”
Be sure to check out Pastor Nate’s Worship Companion Blog – the link is at the bottom, as well as links to Sermon Notes, Calendar, & Worship Lyrics for Sunday.  It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day Sunday – we will see you on the lawn!
We are looking to fill some spots in our various ministries.
If you are feeling called to one or more of them, please let the church office know or sign up on Sunday on one of the sign up sheets that will be available.
Here is what we are looking for:
Nursery: 8 Adults + 4 Youth
Kids Care: 1-2 Adults
Head Usher: 2
Greeters: 2 (can be a couple who would like to do this ministry together)
During this time of transition with Pastor Brian starting later this Fall, as of next week, the Senior High Youth will be joining with the JR. Youth on Thursday nights at the church.  Emi Pol has an incredible Fall Term planned and we encourage the SR. Youth to come on out on Thursday’s 7-8:30pm and then enjoy their own break out sessions when the JR. Youth have theirs that evening.  We look forward to Pastor Brian getting to know the Youth & Volunteer Leaders of UTMC and his vision casting for the future!  If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Pastor Nate or the Board.
We have a new update from the Kress Family as they prepare to go to Costa Rica!

Thank You Dad Shoes Church Website BannerGod, Our Father, Father of all fathers,

We thank you for the innumerable gifts you give
You bless us with the sunrise and the sunset
We’ll thank you and praise you as long as we live.

If not for you, El Shaddai, Abba, God and Father,
We would never have been born nor ever know you;
You have loved us with an everlasting love for all time
We shall praise you ~ and glorify your Holy Name, too.

To reconcile us to yourself, you sent your only Son
To save us from the slavery of evil and of all sin;
If not for your love and plan in the fullness of time,
We shudder at the thought of where we might have been.

Your glory shines all around and about you, Father;
Your radiance and majesty fill us with joy and elation
When we contemplate your goodness and mercy
We praise you with unbridled jubilation
We await in anticipation
the grand celebration
When with the mighty trumpet blast
You will come again, at last
And take us to the place you have prepared
Simply because you cared
For us,

lowly children…

for ever and ever!

Father God we thank you for the Fathers in our church and in our lives.  We pray for the dads today, that they would find their strength in you.  We ask that as they raise their children or encourage and support them in later years, you would provide all wisdom and guidance they need.  Bless them each today Lord, in your name we pray, Amen.

By Jesse Britton:

I’ve enjoyed my job for the last decade or so, but was feeling that God had something different ahead for me.  As my primary work slowed down this year, it gave me an opportunity to refocus on what direction to go next.  The focus became on supporting my family through schooling in a pandemic, while also pursuing various vocation opportunities.

We are followers together in “The Way” of Jesus. “The Way” is probably the oldest name for the Christian life. It was the title first used by early followers of Jesus in the book of Acts to describe the new journey they were on. Our denomination (The Evangelical Missionary Church) uses this language of the way to talk about our life of discipleship. We have 7 statements in “The Way of Jesus” that we seek to live by. As many of you know by now, I am often encouraged by worship songs.  Music rooted in God’s Word has been a constant source of encouragement to me through my entire life.  It also has become a way of “preaching the Gospel to myself” in recent times of loss and grief.  In times of discouragement, disappointment, disbelief, as Christians we know we need to fix our eyes on Christ, but often our mind wanders and our gaze can become fixed on the things around us instead.  In those moments, we need to continually preach the truth of Christ to ourselves.

To Every Mother,

Whether you have experienced joy, longevity, deep relationships, and contentment; whether you have experienced loss, exhaustion, distance, or pain, we acknowledge you, we see you, we are thankful for you, we pray for you, and we love you.

We have had a week full of prayer requests at UTMC.  I couldn’t think of anything other than “PRAY” for today’s Friday Focus.  Prayer is a powerful weapon against the enemy.  We have the opportunity to approach God’s throne with confidence that He hears each and everything we pray (1 John 5:14).  As Pastor Nate shared a couple of weeks ago, God wants to hear or requests big or small.  Right now, we are faced with some big requests as a church, and Paul gave these instructions in Ephesians 6:18:  “Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayer and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all of the Lord’s people.”  Read more
