Pastor’s Piece on the Master’s Peace #43

Acts 27:25

“So, dear friends, take heart. I believe God will do exactly what he told me.”

            Let’s review shall we?

ANCHOR #1 – GODS PRESENCE.  We may not see God in the crisis, but we can be assured that He sees us. We can also be assured that His presence will never leave us. God sent an angel to Paul in the middle of the storm. When everyone else was frantic with fear and trying to survive in their own strength and wisdom, God came down and comforted Paul with His presence.

ANCHOR #2 – GODS PURPOSE – God told Paul, “I have a plan for your life. For Paul, that plan included going to Rome to preach in the court of Caesar. God has a plan for your life as well. You are not here on earth just to take up space. God has a specific plan and purpose for your life.

ANCHOR #3 – GODS PROMISE – Acts 27:25 “So, dear friends, take heart. I believe God will do exactly what he told me.”

I know that the bible gives us promises to help us face the trials and crisis’ of life.  This is so critical for us as we face new challenges each day. And here is a great truth that I trust you will take to heart.

It is not good enough to just get into the scriptures, the scriptures need to get into you. In other words, it is important to not just read and then forget, this will accomplish nothing in your life. Read, meditate and memorize portions of scripture. They will help be the anchor for your soul during a crisis. It will amaze you how quickly memorized scripture will come to mind when a crisis hits.

I recall many years ago hearing the tragic story of one of the founders of the bible college I went to. One night he and his wife experienced the worst nightmare any parent can face when they answered the doorbell and a police officer stood there telling them that their precious daughter had been killed in a motor vehicle accident. Shocked and stunned, the first words coming out of this godly man’s mouth were the words of Job, “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21). Those words had such an impact on the police officer that some time after I heard he made a confession of faith.

What are some of the promises of God that you can hang on to when in a time of crisis? I will list a few here, but I encourage you to get a concordance or simply do a google search of the promises of God. Memorize some of those promises and see the result when you need it most.

Ps 37:23-24

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.  Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand. NKJV

Isaiah 54:17

But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me.

I, the LORD, have spoken! (NLT)

Deuteronomy 31:8

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (NLT)

Acts 27 gives us three anchors to hang on to. GODS PRESENCE (vs 23), GODS PURPOSE (vs 24) AND GODS PROMISE. (Vs 25). Praise be to God!!!
