God will Provide
We’ve been looking at the book of Exodus for a couple weeks and studying the ways Israel went through the miraculous transition from slaves in Egypt to a newborn nation. In our lives today September is often a transition season for us, too. This week we’ll return to the themes of trusting God, believing God will provide, and living with the “tests” that everyday life provides.
Anchor Texts:
Exodus 16:1-8 NASB - The LORD Provides Manna
John 6:30-36 NASB - Jesus - the Bread from Heaven
Questions to Ponder:
The Theme in Art:
Bread of Heaven by Nancy Delgado
The Theme in Song:
The Hymn “Bread of Heaven, on Thee we Feed” is a simple and beautiful testament to the mystery that is “communion with Christ.” We feed on Him a challenging and comforting word. He sustains us, he is faithful, his body is true food and his blood is true drink. When we consider how God saved Israel in the WIlderness from death by supplying manna, how much more has he provided rescue for the whole world through Jesus the Son.
Bread of Heaven, On Thee We Feed
Lyrics
1. Bread of heaven, on thee we feed,
for thy flesh is meat indeed;
ever may our souls be fed
with this true and living bread;
day by day with strength supplied
through the life of him who died.
2. Vine of heaven, thy blood supplies
this blest cup of sacrifice;
Lord, thy wounds our healing give,
to thy cross we look and live:
Jesus, may we ever be
grafted, rooted, built in thee.
