It is Written… Part 4
We’re back to our “it Is Written” series and I’m excited to take on this strange and complex passage from Matthew’s gospel. What is true “cleanliness”? What are our points of authority and how do we rank them? What is Jesus passionate about and what gets him upset? We look at all these big questions in this week’s sermon.
From The Gospel of John Movie, Jesus debating with the scribes and pharisees.

Why does God sometimes delay the consequences of our sin? What kinds of consequences are there for sin?
How does Jesus dying for our sin change the Old Testament capital punishment laws like the one Jesus quotes?
What place is there for tradition in the practices of the church? (Its always there!)

The Theme in Video:
If you have never watched the original version of this Gospel movie, I highly recommend the Gospel of John. It is beautiful, very welly done, and not a cheesy Jesus movie in any way. The entire text of the gospel is read over the course of the 2 hour movie. Since The Gospel of John came out, they have re-edited it to voice over the Gospel of Matthew, too. It’s from that re-make that I have included a clip below of a portayal of the events of our passage today.
Unfortunatly I can’t embed such a long video like I usually do, so click this link and it will begin playing around the 1:27 minute mark which is Matthew 15.
