Holy Fear Holy Living
This week we will be looking through 1 Peter 1:13-25, last week from 1 Peter we learned that Jesus is our living hope, that through the cross we have salvation, through his resurrection we have life. Now as we continue in 1 Peter we see that he highlights this idea of being sober minded, and to be holy as God is holy, well what does that mean, and how can we do that, we will walk through this together. We will also talk about fear, Peter says to conduct ourselves with reverent fear as foreigners, what does this fear look like, does it look like the same fear you may experience with a scary movie? or is it something deeper and less scary, we will talk about what fear of the lord a common biblical term looks like and means.

Questions to ponder
How hard is is to live as a Christ follower in todays culture and society?
How would you describe being holy to someone who doesn’t believe or follow Christ?
Do you wrestle with fear in your life? How do you overcome general fear?
What do you think it means to fear the Lord? is it harder to have reverence for God in a culture that thinks nothing of Him?
How would you explain Gods sovereignty to someone using scripture?
How does the cross and Jesus Resurrection affect how we live?
Below are three videos,
one from a ministry called spoken Gospel and they do a great job of illustrating scripture through spoken word and drama and the video below does a great job of explaining 1 Peter.
second is a more less known song by Matt Redman called facedown that I think shows through musical worship the reverence for God.
Third is a kids memory verse song for a scripture we will be reading this Sunday.
