“Through the Cross”

What is the outcome of a life lived trusting Jesus? Is it joy? Is it honour? Is it eternal life? Is it meeting Jesus face to face under the New Heavans on the New Earth?

Yes!

The hope and joy of the beginning of Peter’s first letter is inspiring and its an important message for all of us to hear. It is emphatically not a message about “escaping” the present world - it is a message about persevering by the "power of God” which is protecting us. That is an amazing promise - and we are preserved by God’s power until Jesus is revealed - here - and his purity and goodness burns away everything impure and evil in God’s good creation.

All of that and more is happening in this week’s focus on 1 Peter as we continue in the Easter season.

The Theme in Song:

This song is one of the communion songs I used to sing years ago. I think I appreciated it so much because the lyrics are very simple and striking. In the song, the focus is never taken off of Jesus and the unfathomable depths of his love for us expressed in his willingness to go to the cross for us. Is there a song about Jesus that helps you put into words that which words simple can’t express?
