It is Written, Part 7

Mark Nussbaum’s largest painting to date is entitled The Siege and Destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans Under the Command of Titus, A.D. 70. Measuring 68 by 44 inches, it required a full year to complete. It is a commissioned reproduction of a lost 19th century painting; Mark referenced digital images of old lithographs to paint it.

Questions to Ponder:

  1. What controls did we talk about in church that help us be good interpreters of scripture. What were the Parameters of othrodoxy?

  2. What other guidlines should we keep in mind when reading scripture (from the sermon or others you think of)?

  3. How familiar are you with the above passages? Have they been taught to you in a church or home setting before. Share what you know already.

  4. Read all of Matthew 24. Try to pick out the spots that make the most sense to you, and the spots that are hardest to follow.

  5. Read Daniel 7:13 closely. Try to describe what is happening in your own words.

  6. Ultimately, what matters most about scripture is our obedience, what do you see in Matthew 24 that calls us to obedience?
